I like to move it move it

Teddy has begun taking his first dance class at Rambert dance studio.  It is still a toddler-friendly dance environment, with parents participating as well as children ages 2-3.  Teddy has loved the classes and it has been fun to see his sense of movement develop.

Dance is a skill Teddy has possibly inherited from his grandmothers, Nancy Daly and Wendy Cull.

Nancy (Nonnie) remembers taking dance classes from around 5-years-old until 11. " In the picture with the yellow ensemble, I look around age 6, the photo was probably taken in 1949. In the photos with the blue and gold outfits I look like I was probably 8-10 years old, so these would have been taken in 1951-52."

Wendy (Nana) attended Goldsmith's College in London to study Dance and Movement. She remembers using the Laban Movement Analysis technique, to undertake a special study of the Art of Movement of Iyengar Yoga in 1971.

"Nana doing  the Lion pose may well  amuse Teddy!"
We hope that dance and movement will be something Teddy enjoys for his entire life.  Rose has been a yoga practitioner for around 15 years and she has combined her practice with competitive rowing, Irish and African Dance and Pilates.

Dan feels he could have been a great dancer, if society had only allowed him the chance.  He is determined to let Teddy know that 'you can dance if you want to

Engineering

We recently bought some Brio, Rose has been showing Teddy how to engineer some complex and elaborate train tracks, here's a small sample...

Notting Hill Carnival

We set out early to see Nottinghill Carnival, too early it seems, as we only got to see the set-up... when Time Out says family day starts early, they mean early for reporters, not early for people with kids... an important time difference noted for future reference.

breakfast - croissant and babyccino...

... lunch... strong homemade rum punch!

Carnival!!!

Nice New Cars

In our local charity shop they often have a bucket of cars, and for one of these...

...you can get these...

or as Teddy likes to say..... "nice new cars"...

Do the Mobot

Around the time of the Rio Olympics we began reading  "Ready, Steady, Mo!" by Olympic Gold medalist and general all around legend, Mo Farah.

this combined with a bit of watching the Olympics seems to have got Teddy in the Olympic spirit...

... here he is starting his long jump run up in the sand pit in the park...
... which of course finished with a victorious MoBot!!

so... do the Mobot

Trip to Taunton

We recently took a trip to Taunton to visit the grandparents, and Teddy's recently emigrated Kiwi cousin and Aunty and Uncle. Above is not the train we took across country, but it is the train we took for a trip to the beach...

... here's Ted and Rose at the beach..

... and Ted relaxing in a steam train...

... back at the house there was much to play with in the garden...

... we discovered Ted loved to drive with the music blaring in "grandpa's car"...

... the park in town has a great sand area...

... the boys having a snack in the park..

Picasso's Trousers

We have recently been reading "Picasso's Trousers" by Nicholas Allan, it may have rubbed off on Ted... here's one of his recent paintings (and his Picasso trousers... no, no, no Picasso):

and here's the painting hanging in our stair well.

Playing in Art Galleries

Our local Art Gallery, CGP, had a very toddler friendly exhibit which included a lift... where you could get into it and press all the buttons... ideal!

Gardening like the Good Life

This summer our Garden has really developed, we've had some great flowers - some from seed, some from freecycle, and some from the Kensington Palace gardeners...

... and we've also had some lovely, and very tasty veg too...
